Chinook Yoga is your yoga studio. It is our mission to support our community by sharing the practice of yoga in the abundance of its tradition. We strive to be a business that provides a joyful place to practice or work in, encouraging people to be authentic and true to themselves. In the spirit of this mission, we offer yoga classes, workshops and teacher trainings in a variety of styles so that there is something for everyone.

Our space at 320 Vancouver Street offers two beautiful yoga spaces, full change rooms with showers as well as a comfortable lounge and yoga boutique. Our vision is to continually endeavor to connect members of the community and surrounding areas, creating more balance and peace in ourselves, our community and our world. We invite you to participate in the realization of this vision.

Yoga is the union of the body, mind, emotions and intellect. Yoga is an ancient and timeless art, science, and philosophy that emphasizes awareness, integrity, and compassion. The practice of yoga helps anyone to gain good health, mental peace, emotional equanimity and intellectual clarity. The meaning behind Chinook Yoga is twofold. Yoga offers a journey inward, not unlike the remarkable return of the Chinook salmon to its place of birth. Many obstacles challenge our intuitive desire to find our centre and fulfill our purpose. Homebound, the Chinook Salmon defies the odds, leaping waterfalls and log jams. The double entendre comes from the First Nation’s ‘Chinook,’ meaning warm, moist wind. Pranayama, a yogic breathing practice, connects us to our core via our own animate, warm, moist wind.
